Sustainability is meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

"Green" is often used as a synonym for "earth-friendly." To be green is to recognize that nature is a foundation for human life and that the processes of nature set our limits and possibilities.

We are leaders in environmentally responsible construction and have recently received Minnesota GreenStar Gold Certification of our whole house remodel at 95 Mackubin in St. Paul.

Building Arts practices green construction:

• To Increase the use of renewable resources such as solar, wind and geothermal energy.

• So that renewable resources such as timber can be maintained over time.

• To reduce reliance on toxic substances that do not readily break down in nature.

• To use all resources as efficiently as possible.

• To sustain and enhance existing buildings.
